Selfness

Experimenting with mosaics.

Not long ago I was in contact with Arthur Gugick (Flickr account), who I admire for his pioneer work in seeking different methods of creating mosaics with the bricks. He was a very friendly and helpful guy and I wished our conversation would have continued. Now I know what happened as recently I heard that he had passed away.

That made me very sad. Another mastermind with the bricks like the great nnenn gone far too early.

Rest in piece and my condolences for his beloved ones. His artwork will live on! This mosaic is dedicated to him as I had him and his studies in mind while creating it.

Usually I don’t manage to document any progress of my stuff, but with the new work space improving I managed to grab a few rough progress steps.

My intention was to create a mosaic which is more than just a mere conversion of a prior photo edited digitally with some kind of mosaic program. Although that tool was initially involved I tried to part the part midway and try to give it a more individual touch – with the risk of failing. The coloration happened later and was done manually without any digital pre-editing.

Painted electric boxes

Some fresh paintings I’ve done recently.

The beach seat was a commission, while the other two were part of a larger project. The project ‘Unter Strom – Hans-Böckler-Platz meets Street Art’ was a admission free workshop whereas the participants painted 13 of those boxes. The leading topic was to depict characteristics of any kind of the City Mülheim/Ruhr.

The abstract thing started with the ground plan of the site where the ensemble of painted boxes are located.

The eyes with the cat toilet alongside the quote are a reference to a well-known comedian coming from that city.

Transforming from/to Graffiti, Urban Art and Brick Art

Stand-alone transformation!

The spray can, the icon of the Graffiti and Street Art movement being rebuilt with plastic bricks. In a second step making some decent photos of the built spray can, serving as a blueprint for spray painting the motive on the wall, completing the cycle. Painted at the Meeting Of Styles 2017 in Wiesbaden.

And the stencil version:

Enjoying fresh colors inna mecha style!

Pretty happy with the frame. Although it features the small ball joints I managed to make it more stable than other models at the same size with the same small ball joints. Also the abdomen has a crazy joint mechanism, making it max posable 😀

Hafen Soundz

This weekend delta.triangle and I had a collaborative display at the Floating Bricks Convention in Hamburg.

Fun fact that the show was in the St. Pauli Barrio inside of the infamous Millerntorstadium.

It was a literal blast, starting with a small collaboration, extending to a layout full of sound, engineering and street art/graffiti and rounding things up with an all-nighter in diverse clubs…

My mate delta.t built a soundsystem tower based upon Killasan‘s wall of speakerboxes. Jamaican originated soundsystem culture at it’s finest!

As a small surprise he also brought a tropical DJ booth along with a DJ and a selector.

My counterpart was a spraycan which got ‘blasted’ by the music. The spraycan being a tower of varying colour sounds echoing the acoustical sounds. The whole shape is deformed in a mix between an astral body and a bullit-like bending caused by the metal ball which is an integral part of a spraycan.

Unfortunately the shots of the collabo are semi, as lighting and stuff had to be improvised.
