Tank 22

It’s been a while, too much going on IRL that online presentation comes short.

Nevertheless the ongoing FebRovery fad drew me in,

so, without much explanation here’s a rover heavily inspired by the work of Rasmus Poulsen.

  • fully articulation: steering double axes, centered 360° articulation point
  • horizontal 360° tower
  • lots of cabling
  • mounted retro chrome gold device for some kind of magic ignition (no, it’s not a weapon!)

This might probably the last post here until I finally manage to update to the new homepage.

Riding a Helicopter

Who doesn’t like flying bikes?

Back in 2010 I was heavily impressed by the Igarashi Design Heli – that much that I had to build a version out of bricks.

That model seemed to be the most viewed of all my concept models up to date.

Now, 11 years later, with new parts available, I made a new version. Originally I just wanted to rework the first version, but the structural integrity was far from stable, therefore it resulted in a completely new build.

Et voilà:

March of robots

Marchi’koma is a great possibility to flex one’s building muscles with GitS inspired robots. Since this is right up my alley, I churned out a few models.

A small robot with character with minimum parts in company of a anime-styled minifigure is ‘Tiny T’.

Two robots drawing inspiration from a spider and a crab, ‘Pain + Killer’, feature a heavy utilitarian and military look. Initially they were designed for a commission, but turned out a tad too large.

The largest in this run is the ‘Old V.I.C.’, a mixture of victorian steampunk, robot tech and microscale with a dash of Howl’s moving castle. The frame is based upon the same one as the D.A.Z. FS359i. This fella will probably be part of a larger diorama I am working on for ages.

Mars Rover

In sprit of the actual expedition and landing on Mars. Also FebROVERy ignited my creative engines.

Large inspiration taken from Igor Sobolevskys amazing Mars 9 Rover concept:

This fella took me ages, The sketch was on my desk for half a year or more before I managed to finally pull it off.

Here’s an interactive 360° model for your viewing pleasure:

S247

Every year there is an annual building challenge in November. Originated by the great nnenn (RIP) at Flickr it’s always a joy to build a Vic Viper-styles spaceship. Although I had this challenge as well as nnenn in mind when building this spaceship, it does not fit the criteria since it has no tail fin. No matter I am happy with the outcome and didn’t want to force a tail fin, it just didn’t feel right. This is probably also due to the inspirational blueprint, the Sketch247 by Gary Sanchez.

I loved that design for ages and now I finally got back to it. It was a real pleasure to build the spaceship at the actual scale.

While shooting the model I also played around with lights.

Back to space-ics

You know, sometimes you build something to a certain extent and that you cannot finish it somehow. Then it lays around for some time, you look at it several times and eventually the final direction comes to shape so you manage to finish it off – this is exactly one of those creations! If there is an existing design or a synopsis of a few designs there is a clear path to follow, but creating a new original design is just different.

BTW there are a whole load of this kind of projects spread across my creative lab.

Building notes

I fiddled around with the large flat curvy panels and my limited parts available in dark tan. It happened that this insect-shell like design came out. My love for the small flags urged me to look how I could add them and the overall design was born.

The build is based upon the traditional Vic Viper wing-layout – two prongs, two rear-sided wings and a tailfin.

It has space for a small minifigure, being positioned up side down – as this matters in space LOL

Therefore the the underside become also a legit upperside.

A friend pointed out the view from the top and bottom being nice stand alone images, so the masks had a spin-off.

Long talk, here’s the full show, enjoy!

Titanite sq-01

Something Cyberpunk/Anime/GitS inspired with a heavy dash of titanium metallic.

Btw it’s Marchikoma, the time to show the iconic robot class some love.

Packmann 850

A concept from 2013, now with fresh photos and a full gallery.

Construction mech, fully articulated, the radome is for counterweight balance. Be it a gravity generator, engine and energy container packed with sensoric equipment.
